This page is part of Section One: the Your Dog section of barkingdogs.net
Why Your Dog is Barking Your dog is barking because you have placed him in a situation in which it is more rewarding for him to bark than it is for him to be quiet. In the final analysis, that is the only reason that any dog ever barks inappropriately. Your barking dog is not stupid, and he's not crazy. What your dog is doing makes perfect sense, given the situation in which you have placed him. When you change the situation, and make silence the more rewarding alternative, then your dog will be quiet.
