Labrador Retriever Dies of Heat Stroke After His Mouth is Taped Shut Dallas Morning News - Dallas, Texas - July 14, 2004 The death of a 1-year-old Labrador retriever in The Colony triggered outrage from animal lovers across the nation. The dog died from heatstroke after duct tape was wrapped around its snout to keep it from barking. Richard Swift, the brother of the dog owner, has been charged with felony animal-cruelty.
